Stanza -1
How happy is he born or taught
That serveth not another’s will;
Whose armour is his honest thought,
And simple truth his utmost skill.

Nor vice; who never understood
How deepest wounds are given with praise;
Nor rules of state, but rules of good.

Ans:- A happy person does not understand how deepest wounds are caused by false praise.

Ans:- A truly happy person does not rule over any state. He rules over others not by virtue of any political power but by thegoodness of his heart.

Who God doth and early pray
More of his grace than gifts to lend;
And entertains the harmless day
With a religious friend.

Ans:- A happy person prays for God’s grace. He does not pray for any worldly gifts.

Ans:- It means the harmless activities of the day.
